Aviation Hall of Fame Inductees to be honored

Seven aviators will be inducted into the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame at the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham: the four Crommelin brothers, Rear Admiral John G. Crommelin, Jr., Cmdr. Charles L. Crommelin, Lt. Cmdr. Richard G. Crommelin, and Capt. Quentin C. Crommelin from Wetumpka, (dubbed the "Dixie Demons" by the press), David McCampbell (all served as naval aviators), Fermon A. Stone and Joseph L. Shannon, (army aviators).

It is interesting to note that the Crommelins' cumulative participation during the war had them involved in every major battle in the Pacific. They became one of the most decorated families in U.S. naval history.

The seven great aviators will be honored at an awards banquet to be held at The Club in Birmingham on May 14th. For tickets, call Raytheon Aircraft Services (205) 591-6830.
