June 5: Montgomery, Shakespeare’s Gardens & Amphitheater Open House. Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park. The Gardens feature a 325-seat amphitheater, as well as flowers, trees and plants featured in the works of William Shakespeare. Sat, 10 am-3 pm. Info: (334) 244-4354.

June 5: Birmingham, Juneteenth Celebration. Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, 520 Sixteenth St.--Annual event celebrating the "official end" of slavery in the South. June 5-6: Florence, 11th Annual Frontier Day Celebration. June 13: Heron Bay, French Coast Tricentennial Celebration & Seafood Jamboree. The coastal communities of South Mobile County host and salute the earliest landfall of the intrepid captain of the Sun King with a yearlong celebration.
